Welcome to Back Road Gallery.
My name is Ron Housch (pronounced like Bush, but with an "H"), and I’ve been taking pictures for 50 years…I’ve been a photographer for many less. When I bought my first 35 mm camera in 1970, my dream was clearly to become a professional photographer. But as it happens, life can get in the way of one's plans. Life took me down different pathways, but I have always been able to keep photography as part of who I am.
Now retired, my wife and I enjoy traveling to see different areas around the country. We particularly like visiting National and State parks where we both enjoy searching for my next subject. We look for a full variety of scenes, but my favorite subjects remain wildlife, particularly Eagles.
The Artist’s Statement I wrote several years ago for an exhibit still stands true today.

My photography is a reflection of nature’s true artistry…
Art is all around us, my camera just records what nature supplies.
My pleasure is experiencing our natural environment…
Being out in nature can be relaxing, inspiring, enlightening, and contemplative.
My excitement is capturing my subject at a precise moment in time that will never exist again…
Adrenaline flows when approaching a subject and knowing exactly when to press the shutter.
My passion is sharing those images…
Hence, Back Road Gallery. You'll find an eclectic collection of photographs taken over the past 20 years.
My hope is to inspire others to go experience nature’s artworks...
I want people to see my images and be inspired to go out and enjoy nature for themselves.
